We are searching for my Father's background We have got as far as Daniel Clement Liddy who married Anastasia Meade or Reade in 1884. His father was also Daniel Clement and was born in 1827 and died in 1883 in Traralgon Vic. His father"s name was John. We think they came from Tulla in Clare but not sure.. As you can imagine, there are hundreds of John Liddys. If we could find Daniel Clement 1827 birth certificate that would help a lot.
Maybe someone has some clues?

Dear Cathy:
Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site. LIDDY was a surname in Tulla and there were a number of families in the parish in the 1800s. The parish registers for Tulla parish are online through the National Library of Ireland, but unfortunately there are gaps in the 1820s and only part of 1827 is available. You can view them at the link below. In addition, you can also view the headstone monuments in the Tulla graveyard and you will note that there are a large number of LIDDY monuments.

In addition, you can also view the headstone monuments for the Tulla graveyard at the link below. You will note that there are a number of LIDDY monuments and you should also note that LIDDY was also spelled as LYDDY.
There was a Daniel LIDDY from Roslara and the house is still there. It may or may not be a connection to you.
If you need further assistance, please let me know, We have an active Tulla Reaching Out group here and will be more than happy to assist. The best of luck.
Kind regards,
Jane

Thank you so much Jane for such useful information. We are about to get on the plane in Melbourne this evening and wing our way over. Very exciting to have such concrete leads to follow! We will definately spend some time in the Tulla graveyard.. Is it possible to get the address of the house in Roslara to drive past ?. Maybe privacy considerations dont allow this. When we visited in 2016 we were able to stand in the kitchen of the house my husband's ancestor had left from to come to Australia in !848. Amazing ! He is a Moran and we connected with lovely living relatives and will again on this trip..
Wonderful help. So glad the Irish Moran family referred us to this site!
Thank you again
