I am looking for information on Hannah Woods who was probably born about 1800. To put this in context her children are Bridget b1829, John d1855 Crimea, Martin d1855 Crimea, Mary b1836, Hannah b1838 (my ancestor), James b1841 and Thomas b1844.
I have done extensive searching on the big genealogy sites and also clarelibrary but the records for 1800 do not exist. I am hoping that someone might recognise Hannah Woods from the above and help me out.
For your information I am busy trying to trace the O'Grady's also as their information was not handed down to me.
Any help would is much appreciated.

Dear Eric:
Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.
As you have already researched the sites as well as the Clare Library website, you will know that records before about 1800 are very scarce.
You might consider creating an Ancestor Profile for your family on the XO Chronicles tab (top of the page). These ancestor profiles are updated weekly and read by all our members. It may be that others are also researching the same family and you will be able to add to your research.
The link is below:

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Thank you Jane, I'll have a look into the above. I'm also hoping that someone will recognise the 2 names.

Hi Eric, I am descended from Michael O'Grady and Bridget O'Dea who we believe lived in Fanta Glebe (in Kilfenora). Their sons Daniel (b. 1835) and Michael (b.1836) both migrated to Australia in the 1850s. The surname was variously spelt O'Grady, Grady, Gready. The Griffiths Valuation suggest that it was our Michael who rented 33 acres at Fanta Glebe and his son Daniel who rented 44 actres in tha adjacent Ballygoonaun. His son, Michael, (my great grandfather) had left for Australia in 1853. His emigration was organised by the Presbyterian minister Rev John Armstrong who was a neighbour and the lessor of Michael senior. There were very few O'Gradys mentioned in the Kilfenorar parish ecords so it is very likely that they were all related. Tony O'Grady, Melbourne.

Hi Tony,
I appreciate your getting in touch.I cannot reconcile any of your ancestors with the information that I outlined earlier which is all that was handed down to me. Unfortunately that is the brick wall we all face with Irish records.
Best of luck with your own research and thanks again.
