I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie and did not find a marriage record for William Wallace and Helen Sullivan/O'Sullivan around 1840. I did find an 1858 marriage of a William Wallace to Ellen Sullivan in Limerick city but my guess is that this is a different couple who did have a number of children.

Likely your William and Helen did not marry.

I also looked for William Wallace baptismal records in Bulgaden parish but the earliest was 1829 too late for the father of Thomas. There was an Ellen Sullivan baptized in 1824 in Bulgaden. See below.

I probably won't be of much help but my twice great grandfather was a William Wallace. He was married to Mary O'Rourke; however, I don't know when or where the marriage occurred. Their oldest son, my great grandfather Patrick Wallace,  was baptized in April of 1837, Bulgaden Parish near Martinstown, Co. Limerick. (See: https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634925#page/21/mode/1up and entry #650) William's parents were William and Catherine Moloney who married in 1789. The latter William's parents were Patrick aka Staker Wallace and Hanora Riordan who married in 1759. Staker was a local hero and an Irish patriot. He was involved with the United Irish and refused to provide the British with the names of the others in the movement. He was killed by a Captain Oliver in 1798 after his capture.

My twice great grandfather, William Wallace, came to the U.S. probably at the time of the potato famine. Most certainly, he had settled in Kane Co. , Illinois by 1850 as he acquired 40 acres from the federal government at that time.

I checked my family genealogy for the people that you mentioned and could find no record of them. However, since Thomas was baptized in the same local as my great grandfather, I suspect the families were related. Unfortunately, I don't know the names of any of my fourth great grandfather's siblings.

Ironically, the booklet regarding Staker Wallace has been passed down to me.  I am trying to see if/where  we fit into the Staker lineage but so far none of the dates line up.

I went to Ireland last year on an Ancestry.com and we had a genealogist with us.  He came up with some info not familiar to me so I am going to research that.  I will certainly call on Irelandxo Volunteers again.  Thanks!

Yes, that appears to be a record of my great, great grandparent's marriage as the Parish of Hospital is quite close to Bulgaden. My great, great grandfather was probably in Kilrush, Ireland because the British in Co. Limerick were quite hostile toward my family due to my fourth great grandfather's association with the United Irishmen. This is according to Eunice Brandt's book of 1909 in which she told the story of the Staker and provided the family genealogy.

Do you have the original dated 1909? That is the one that I have. Please note that Eunice gave the Staker's original first name as William but many agree that it was probably Patrick so my lineage is as follows: Patrick "Staker", William, William, Patrick, Arthur. At the time that Eunice wrote the book, my grandfather, Arthur, was not yet married. 

My brother has had his DNA done so I know his haplogroup. Do you have a male Wallace sibling or cousin who has had his done so that we can compare haplogroups?

If we are related, which I suspect we are, I think that the relationship probably runs through my fourth great grandfather's siblings. As I stated before, I have no idea who they might be. I will tell you that I was told on my last visit to Ireland in 1991, that Wallace family members still lived in Co. Limerick.

My Grandmother, Ellen Wallace, (1883-1920) was born to Michael Wallace and Cathleen O’Shea in Glin, Limerck, St. Mary’s Parish. Ellen died in New York City on February 3, 1920 two days after giving birth to my father,Michael Donovan. Micheal Wallace was born to John Wallace (1797-1873) and Helen Culhane in Glin. They had a son named John(1770-1870). He was the son of Patrick Wallace and Mary Welsh (1745-?). Patrick Wallace was my 4th great grandfather. Have have no further info

on Patrick died in Bahaneerie(.?) 

I have the booklet from 2009.  Somebody, a dentist/doctor Edward Wallace, who lived in Florida or Texas sent the booklet to my great aunt in Derby, CT many years ago.  That doctor sent the book with a copy of a baptismal and marriage record showing the connection to Thomas Wallace b1840 married to Bridget McCarthy b1844.  This doctor claims that he is related to Thomas, son of William Wallace and Mary Rourke which is on page 63 of Staker Wallace booklet.  I can confirm that this doctor is married to a common ancestor of ours, Thomas and Bridget but not to Stakers lineage.  The dates don’t match and our clan is located in Connecticut not the Midwest.  I am so frustrated!  LOL

Buck, I'm aware of the Wallaces that live in the Glin area of Co. Limerick. I found out in a kind of strange way. When I bought a dress at a local department store, the girl who assisted me told me that she had a cousin in Ireland with the same name as mine. I asked her where in Ireland and she told me Co. Limerick. I then asked her where in Limerick and she told me Glin. Unfortunately, this was years ago and I don't remember her name. In any case, as far as I am aware, the Wallaces of Glin are not related to my family.

Have you had a DNA test done? if you are a male in the Wallace line, do you know your haplogroup? I know my brothers so I would be able to tell if there is a chance that we are related.

According to my edition of the Wallace genealogy, William and Mary Rourke Wallace's son, Thomas, was unmarried as of 1909. I've seen a photo of Uncle Thomas and I'm pretty sure that he never married.

I can understand your frustration. Has a male Wallace in your line had a DNA test done? If we could compare haplogroups, we could confirm whether or not we are related.

My haplo group is H1

My dad and brother are both deceased.  My family 82 year old uncle had his done Thru Ancestry.  I will check with my cousin.
