The 1893 New York death certificate of James DONOHUE states that he was the son of Farrell DONOHUE and Julia NN.
James, a shoemaker, was likely born c.1825-26 in County Longford, emigrated to the US c.1848, and married in 1849.
James' brother Bryan DONOHUE, born c.1831, also a shoemaker, emigrated in 1855 and married in 1856.
And James' brother Michael DONOHUE, born c.1827-36, emigrated sometime before he was married in in New York in 1857.
Griffith's (1854) show a Farrell DONOHOE in Aghnacliff, Columbkille, and also in Annagh, Killoe - but I don't know if either are the father of James, Bryan, and Michael. I've combed through some of the digitized registers for Columbkille and Killoe, but haven't found Farrell or Julia.
Any help fleshing out this family would be much appreciated!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The subscription site Roots Ireland has Killoe parish baptismal records starting in 1826 and Columkille baptismal records starting in 1833. When I searched for children of Farrell Donohue for all of Co. Longford, no record comes up which leads me to conclude that likely the Farrell you located in Columkille civil parish is the likely candidate. However, what we don't know if whether your Farrell Donohue lived until at least 1853-1854 when the Griffiths Valuation survey was completed in Co. Longford. I also did not locate a Farrell Donohue marriage in Co. Longford on Roots Ireland.
You may want to add James Donohue's story to our XO Chronicles site and possibly someone will see a connection https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
Have you considered DNA testing?

Thanks - yes, I got my results back two weeks ago and they've helped enormously with my DOYLEs.
In the Tithe Applotments, there's a *Ferdinand* DONOCHO [sic] in "Aughnacliff" in 1823 - and a Ferdinand DONOGHO [sic] in "Aghnacliff" in 1833. I wonder if he's connected with Farrell - or if he was the actual father of James, Bryan, and Michael, and his first name was mis-remembered by James' widow when the death certificate was drawn up. I've learned not to trust death certificates and headstones, but sometimes they provide the only factoids you have to go on. Maybe one of the NY marriage certificates of the sons might name the parents, but they can be brief to a fault.

Hello:
We have a local volunteer from Killoe parish who will be able to assist you with your query. I have forwarded this post to her and she should respond to you in the next week.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,

Following up almost five years later, I've pieced together the following with the help of genetics and Irish and American records:
Farrell DONOHUE and Julia REYNOLDS do seem to have lived in the Townland of Annagh (Electoral Division of Drumgort, Civil Parish of Killoe) - specifically on a farm about a mile southeast of Loch Annagh and in between Corrinagh and Cloonback - at least according to Griffith’s Valuation. Here’s where it is on a modern map:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/mi5Wd7ZWL4gR7kbA6
I'm not sure if the buildings shown are original, but they also appear on the Griffith’s map.
Their sons James DONOHUE, born c1826, Michael DONOHUE born c1827-36, Bryan DONOHUE, born c1831, and John DONOHUE, born c1847, all went to New York in 1840s, 50s, and 70s and married there.
At least two of Farrell and Julia's children stayed in Longford: Patrick DONOHUE, born c.1840, and Mary DONOHUE, born c.1846.
Patrick DONOHUE - of "Annave" son of Farrell DONOHOE - married Catherine REILLY in 1872, and then settled in Smear - Catherine's home Townland.
Mary DONOHUE - of "Annave" daughter of Farrell DONOGHUE - married Eugene/Owen SHERIDAN in 1870 and raised several children in Aghakine/Ahakine/Aughakine. She died 13 Jun 1918 in Aghakine.
Farrell died 25 Nov 1879 at Annagh - and the death registration says he was married, but I haven't found a death record for Julia either before or after 1879. It's possible she emigrated. The informant was Edward DONOHUE, who died a bachelor at "Annave" in 1891 - apparently at age 70 - so he might've been their son, or Farrell's brother.
Farrell DONOHUE and Julia REYNOLDS might also have had other children, but I haven't yet made a connection via DNA - I do, however, have a number of DNA matches who descend from Bryan, John, Patrick, and Mary.
DNA also links the descendants of Farrell and Julia with the family of Gerald/Garrett REYNOLDS, c1830-1917, and Julia DONOHUE, who married in 1855, and lived in Annagh - however, I haven't yet figured out if Gerald/Garrett was the brother of *my* Julia REYNOLDS DONOHUE or if Julia DONOHUE was the daughter of Farrell and Julia.
Anyway - pardon the rambling - and if anyone has anything to add or suggestion, please do!
