On Mr Moroney expressing a hope that there would be no fighting or quarrellinhg, Mr PJ Linnane, J.P., said, in regard to that, the Sinn Feiners went to hold a meeting in Tula, though they knew that a meeting was to be held there for Mr Lych, and only that there was great restraint on the part of Mr Lynch's friends it would have been impossible to avoid a conflict and blood would have been shed, "and Mr De Valera and his handful of children would have been wiped in the gutter."
