I am the great great grand daughter of Mary Comer Walsh and John Walsh of Cloughbrack. My grandmother (Katherine Shields) was the daughter of Norah (Honor) Walsh. Upon Norah's death in Boston, Katherine and her brother Tommy were sent to live with family in Cloughbrack, while their other siblings remained in Boston with their father. They remained in the area until they were teenagers and returned to Boston. My mother was told that her mother (Katherine) and Uncle Tommy were residing with a bachelor Unlce named Martin Walsh who was a tailor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Kerry White

Hi Kerry
The Uncle Martin Walsh born 23rd April 1889 was listed aged 20 on the 1911 census, living with his elderly parents John Walsh 80 and Mary aged 67. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Galway/Cloonbur/Cloghbrack__Lower/469087/
The 1911 census indicates that there were 7 children born to the couple and just 1 living at that time. This is probably incorrect as there were 4 siblings of Nora recorded on the 1901 Census.
How much research have you completed, what assistance do you need?
Best regards
Gerard, Parish Liaison Lackagh

Thank you both. I do know some details - Mary Comer and John Walsh had 4 sons (including Martin) and 6 daughters. From what I can tell Nora and several of her sisters emigrated to the Boston area. I've lost the thread on three of their sons (Patrick, James and John). I will definitely check out the Clonbur heritage center for some more clues. - Regards, Kerry
