Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.  You might be interested in looking at the Clare Library website as they have a large number of online resources to look through for County Clare genealogy research.  As you mentioned Ennistymon, the civil parish is Kilmanaheen.  However, Ennistymon catholic parish covers several civil parishes, so it may be better to search for the names of the ancestors you mention generally.  

The Clare Library website is:  http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm. As stated in a previous post, years of birth and death would be very helpful if you have them.  

Any further information that you may have including where they emigrated to, please reply on this thread.  The very best of luck with your research!

FYI, my great grandmother was Mary Ann DALY (spellings vary and include Daley, Dalee), born c 1836 in Waterford County.

She met and married my grandfather, Daniel J. GALLERY from Ennistymon, in Chicago, where they raised their children. Daniel's mother was Margaret Shannon, born c1800, daughter of Captain John Shannon, both presumably from County Clare.

This may have no relation to your people, I'm just including it here because I'm interested in finding anything anyone knows that could help me identify my Clare ancestors and where they lived before emigrating to America.

Thank you Jane Ryan for the tidbit that Kilmanaheen is the Civil Parish, Ennistymon is the Catholic parish. I'm fairly new at this and the parish/townland/brony business is a bit confusing, but I'm gradually getting it. I'm told that there are only a handful of official "cities" in Ireland (Dublin, Cork, Limerick, e.g.). How would you refer to Ennistymon, a town or a village or ?

My sister has corresponded with someone in the Clare Library about the Gallery family, though it is not our branch specifically. Our Daniel J Gallery came from Ennistymon with his mother and two sister to America in 1856. One of his sons was Daniel V. Gallery, and he had three sons (Daniel V., Jr., William Onahan and Philip Daly Gallery) who were decorated naval officers in WWII. The fourth son was a priest who was a US Navy chaplain during the war. Daniel V. Jr is famous for having been the captain whose antisubmarine task group captured a German U-boat and its crew (and code book), which was not disclosed during the war. Eventually the sub was towed through the Great Lakes to Chicago, where it is still on display, and visitors can walk through it.
