Michael McMahon farmed as a tenant of Sir Hugh Massy in County Clare – the farm was at Kildoorus in the Civil Parish of Kiltenanlea. Michael married Honora George. A son, Thomas, was born in 1846 and he came to Australia in 1864. Thomas married Margaret Sullivan and is my GGGrandfather. Two other McMahon sisters that I know of came to Australia; Mary and Ellen. A Joanna is mentioned as having sponsored them but I have no idea where she fits in. We now have info on both girls here.Thomas’ brother, Patrick, remained on the farm at Kildoorus and married Anne Keogh in 1870, in Clonlara. They apparently had 12 children, three daughters went to America in the early 1900’s; Frances, Bridget and Anne. They are reported as connecting on arrival in New Jersey.Love to hear if there are any long lost relations either in Ireland or the USA, or elsewhere.

Hi Jim:
Thank you for your post. Would you consider creating Ancestor Profiles for some of the family? This might draw attention to other researchers who are looking for the same family. You can create profiles under the XO Chronicles tab at the top of this page.
If you have any problems, please let me know.
All the best,
Jane

Dear Jim:
I have forwarded your post to a few Scariff area volunteers who may be able to add further local information to your query. They should reply to your post in the next week or two. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me as I live in County Clare, and have a number of Scariff/Clonlara contacts that may be able to assist you.
Kind regards,
Jane
