Hi there,
I first wanted to introduce myself. My name is Glenn Scollins, I'm 31 years old, and have lived in Boston all my life. My family and I traveled to Ireland last November and we instantly fell in love with everything about the country. We are planning another trip to return this year, but we were hoping to get some into on our actual descendants and visit the parishes they hailed from.
I've done a bit of digging and found that our irish roots on my father's side go back to Cork (and possibly Loughmoe/Tipperary). I was hoping someone may have some more information around the Scollins name. I have attached a family tree of what I have so far. It looks like my great great grandfather Hugh Scollins born in 1865 was born in Ireland. Also my great great grandmother Nora F Keeffe (1847-1942) has lineage that goes back to Patrick O'Keefe born in 1817.
I was interested if anyone had additional information on these families (Especially Scollins and Keeffe/KeefeO'Keefe) or knew if there were still any decendants living in the area. I'm doing this as a surprise christmas gift for my family but any information that could be provided would be a huge help.
Sorry for the novel, but regardless of whether or not you can help, I look forward to starting a dialogue. Visiting Ireland was a life changing experience for me and I look forward to learning more about where I came from and how I got where I am today, thank you!

Hi Glenn,
Your posting was drawn to my attention by Jane Halloran Ryan of IrelandXO as you had mentioned a connection of your family to Cork County area and I am a Volunteer Leader for this area. I have carried out a search of the Country and County Cork in particular but unfortunately have found no mention of the Scollins family in County Cork in the Civil Records and/or the 1901 and 1911 Census of Ireland.
I have located Scollins families in the Northern part of the Country in areas such as Counties Monaghan, Cavan, Sligo etc. Here is a link to some of these from the Civil Records, https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-perform-search.jsp?namefm=&namel=Scollins&location=&yyfrom=1840&yyto=1918&type=B&type=M&type=D&submit=Searc
Some also appear in the 1911 and 1901 Census, Here are links to both years, First 1911.
1901
If you have any difficulty accessing either of these sites let me know and I will help. You can contact me privately if you wish at frankfahy@eircom.net
Unfortunately, the Civil Records are only available from 1864 and the finishing dates end on various years depending on what is allowed by the Irish Data Protection laws. Church Records are avaiuable from various years but generally from the early 1800s and only currently available up to 1918 for the same reasons. Church and Civil records both be accessed at
Please do feel free to come back to me especially if you can elaborate on the sources of the information provided on the Family Tree as it may help me to pin down an exact area and gain further knowledge of the families. Also note the connection to the family Drum and Dunn which may be helpful. Dunn by the way looks to me as thgough it is a mistranscription of Drum.
Best of luck Glenn, hope I have been of some help.
