I found the Workhouse article very interesting, but I nee some help to determine which Work House my relatives might have been
associated with as the McKew/McCue parents were married at St. Michael's Church in Portlaoise (aka Port Arlington) County Laois in
1828 and their children were baptized at the same Church from 1828 through 1840. McCues were aslo associated with Whitebog,
Ballyadams in the Griffiths Valuation list. The famiy emigrated in between late 1840s through ealry 1850s.
Thanks for any help. Mary McCue Greene
Portlaoise used to be called Maryborough. The Poor Law Union which included it was Mountmellick. See: http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Mountmellick/
