Crowleys danganmore bandon

Hi Geraldine,

I was asked by Jane Halloran Ryan to help you with your query.

From the beginning I have a problem with the Townland you gave for Patrick and family. I cannot find a Townland with the name  Danganmore in Bandon or anywhere else in Cork County. either on the Census or any of the genealogy websites  Would you please send me a link to the Census entry you referred to where Ellen and family were found.

I need that or a link to anywhere Danganmore Bandon is mentioned before I can even think about a search which will be thorough.

Thank you for replying, the townland of danganmore is under the electoral area of Baurleigh in bandon. 
They were in house no 4 according to the census record

Apologies I cannot seem to attach the link from my phone but I was able to go in and search the census records just now again and find the information. Maybe if you choose baurleigh first it gives all the townlands from where Danganmore can be chosen.

I, too, am searching Crowleys from Bandon. Notably: Susanna Crowley 1785 - 1861 .  She and her husband John Burke (born in Bandon) 1783-1864 departed Ireland (abt. 1820)  with their 7 

children (also born in Bandon) for Canada and settled there.

Hi Geraldine, I have been doing research into my family and my Great Great Grandmother was Hannah Crowley from Dangan More. Dan and Patrick were her brothers. She got married in 1900 so she wasn't on the 1901 Census. I found baptism records for five children for Jeremiah Crowley and Ellen O'Brien. Dan was born in 1852 and Patrick in 1858. Dan was present when his Mother died in 1905 so he would have been in his 50s when he went to America. Their father Jeremiah was dead when Hannah got married in 1900 but I can't find any information on when he died. If you have any other info about the family I would love to know.

My Great grandfather - Michael Crowley (Jun 1854 - Jan 1932) was born in Dan Ganmore, Bandon.  Along with his siblings - Timothy (1843); Ellen (1846); John (1849); Daniel (1851); Jerry (1857); Patrrick (1859); Jeremiah (1862) Catherine (1864). 

Their Parents Daniel (1817- 1865) and Catherine Connelly (1820-1906) were married in Enniskeane in 1842.  Catherine was from Enniskeane and Daniel was a framer from Danganmore, Bandon.  

Most of the family came to America - except for Daniel.  We don't know where he went.  

One group of children went to Ithaca NY and another group of children went to Boston.   

There were not many families in Danganmore.  Most of them were Crowley's and farmers.  

These were three of the brothers - Michael, John, and Jeremiah...

i posted a reply yesterday but it doesnt seem to be showing now so i am not sure if you saw it.

Having spoken to my father, he thinks we may be connected. Jeremiah and Ellen Crowley had 6 children, 4 boys (Dan, Patrick, Jeremiah and Timothy) and 2 girls (mary & Anne). After Jeremiah senior died Ellen was head of the household. She is buried in Bandon graveyard with some of her children. In approx 1900 Timothy bought a farm in Ovens and in the 1901 census, both he and his sister Anne were listed as living there. The anne in our family went to live in Dripsey after she got married and remained there until she died. We believe she is buried in Bandon also though. i would love to find out if you are connected to our Anne (Hannah would be another name for Anne) If you are, i have a lot of info on Ellen Crowley (O'Brien) and am currently researching Jeremiah crowley.

thanks for your contact on Jeremiah. If you can esatblish that they are the same family Johanna is looking for, you might let her know if they are buried in Bandaon Graveyard and if there is a headstone on the grave/s

I would appreciate it if you could let me know also of the location of the graveyard in Bandoin you refer to as I live in Skibbereen and am not familiar with the location. Is it the Graveyard beside/behind the Catholic Church?

Hi Geraldine, thanks for your reply, I didn't see one yesterday. Here is the info I have on Hannah Crowley.

She married Francis O'Mahony from Cronody Dripsey in October 1900 

I found her marriage notice in the paper and it said she was the second daughter of the late Jeremiah Crowley Danganmore. When I searched the census records it looks like she was Ellen's daughter. In the 1901 census Timothy was living with her as well as Daniel, Pat and Mary. I found baptism records for Daniel, Patrick, Hannah, Timothy and Mary but it said she was the second daughter of Jeremiah so it doesnt match up. The age doesnt match to the census either, which is not unusual. 

Hanna and James O'Mahony had three children, Daniel, Mary Ellen and Hannah. Mary Ellen Died when she was four. Daniel moved to Chicago, Hannah married Philip Murphy and they lived with James and Hannah. James died in 1938 and their daughter Hannah died in 1945, Philip remarried and I dont know what became of Hannah Crowley, I know she lived there after her daughter died but I dont know for how long and when she died. I heard that she might be buried in Bandon but I can't find any more information on her. I would love anymore information you might have on Ellen O'Brien, and Jeremiah Crowley. I presume I have the right family, thanks for your help.

Geraldine, I just noticed a mistake in my last post, Hannah Crowley Married James Francis O'Mahony, I noticed I left out his first name, apologies.

Having done more research on Hannah Crowley, we found out some more info. It looks like Anne was the first born daughter, she died in 1916 according to the records. Hannah was the second daughter and Mary the third. Hannah was born in 1863 and died in 1949. I was told that her father Jeremiah died before 1888, he wasn't on the parish census for Bandon dated 1888-1898.

You mentioned you had lots of information on Ellen, if you wouldn't mind sharing them when you get the chance, I'd really appreciate it.

sorry for the delay in getting back to you! from what you have mentioned i think we are definitely related!! Patrick Crowley was my great grandfather. My father has been following the family tree and is going to ring his older sister to get more information from her on the familiy who went to dripsey as she would have known some of them. I will let you know as soon as i get word back.

Can you send me your email address please and i can forward you on the information that i have, including a copy of a will belonging to Ellen O'Briens father.
