  • Hi Jeffrey, my name is Jennifer Jean, I am a volunteer for Irland xo  and I notice that Croom Parish liasion for Ireland xo  has already managed to give you some details for your search; as always this volunteer is exctly correct in her analysis but I actually live in Tournafulla, which until 1836 was part of the same parish as Mountcollins.

At present I have lodged your request on the Tournafulla Village/Tidy Towns page but have friends who live in the village who may know of these people.

Are you related? Perhaps this enquiry is for another party? It would be nice to have a little more detail / history and we perhaps could help you better: hoever you never know who just might respond

Meantime Good Luck in your search: we are always happy to learn how people get on in their quest

  • Hello Jeffery

Now having looked deeper into the Lyon history I have from the National Library of Ireland:- marriage of John Lyons and Mary FORNAM (this could be a bad copy of the script as it is a very messy page) however the couple were certainly from Tournafulla area and the date fits your enquiry 27 January 1874

I also have a John Lyons living in Kilkinlea lower (Abbeyfeale) age 11 in 1900 could  be an off-springperhaps? There is quite a few Lyon families in the area around this time.

There is a Mary Ford mother Lovett registered in St.John's Limerick for 16.6.1851; there is also a Maria Ford 10.5.1857 mother Ellen Carty and father Joannis

However there is an entry in 1911 for the Lyons family in Glengort South, Tournafulla Daniel 70 father; Ellen 66 mother; NELLIE 23 daughter (FITS YOURS) Kathie 20 daughter and

son John 36 also a grandson name Pat Leahy age 11 years. This family still have descedents here in Tournafulla and in the same road (Glengurt South)

You have plenty here to mull over but please do let us know how you get on and we wish you the best of luck in your searching
