Hi,
Can anyone decipher or recognize the townland name in the attached document for the bride, Bridget Finel? The groom is Peter Gibson of Moneen. The marriage date is Sept. 13 1854 in Kilalloe, Carrigaholt.
Any help with spelling of the witnesses' names would also be much appreciated.

Hi,
The name of the townland appears to be "Kiltrelig" in the Civil parish of Kilballyowen, Barony of Moyarta. The "Killaloe" refers to the Diocese. The witnesses would appear to be Mrs Canty and Tony Finnel? - Later Fennell
The Tithe Applotments list can be checked via www.nationalarchives.ie. Many of the place names listed were changed when Griffith's Valuers carried out the valuations c1847 - 1864.

Hi,
Regarding previous post, "Kiltrellig" is spelt with a double L at the end in Griffith's Valuations. There are a number of "Carty" surnames in that townland. The proper name is "McCarthy". The name "Canty" is in the area closer to Kilkee. See also the 1901 census.

Thank you! This information is hugely helpful. It may help me tie sisters from Moneen to the Gibson family branch in my tree. They emigrated to Australia. The marriage record above is for their parents.
