I am searching for information about my 3x great grandfather Bartholomew Tangney. I know his son John was born 13 July 1824. They lived in Castleisland. I believe their church was Currow Roman Catholic Church. His wife has been listed as Mary Hogan or Mard Hogan.
I'd appreciate any information or guidance offered.

The Castleisland RC church records start in April 1823 for baptisms and October 1822 for marriages. If Bartholomew was from Castleisland, you will not find his baptismal record. On the subscription site Roots Ireland, there is a marriage record on March 1 1824 for a Bartholomew Tangney and a Mary Mulhane. No marriage record for a Bartholomew Tangney and Mary or Margaret Hogan
The baptismal record for John Tangney from the register appears to show Mary Hogan. There are an additional eight baptismal records for children of Bartholmew Tangney and Mary Mulhane in Castleisland.
My thought is that Mary Hogan and Mary Mulhane are the same person.
The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Castleisland civil parish showed four Tangney records including two Johns. Did your John stay in Ireland?

My John, left Ireland in 1847. He died in Baltimore, Maryland, US in March 1880.
