I'm looking for any information about William Slingsby from Ballylooby. His father was also William, his mother may have been a Maher(?). He married Bridget Kennedy from Tipperary. Emigrated to USA before 1860. His son married the daughter of John Fennessey also from Tipperary. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not see a William Slingsby marriage record to Bridget Maher. However, Ballylooby RC records start in May 1828 https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1094 I did find baptismal records for two daughters of William and Bridget. See below. Likely the marriage and the baptism for young William occurred before May 1828 and the records are not available.

Hello. I have roots in Ballylooby, specifically Scartnaglorane. When I saw your post, I remembered having a Slingsby in my database. I did a quick search and found a few other records for Slingsby in or near Ballylooby. You may already have these, but even if you do, they may help someone else!

Gravestone inscription:
“Here lieth the remains of Wm Slingsby of Rehill who departed life May 16th 1786 aged 55 years
Also Hickey family of Garryroan and Tobin family of Rehill R.I.P.”
at findmypast.com. I am not able to tell where this grave is. They don’t offer the option to scroll back to earlier pages where the name of the graveyard may be listed. I *think* it’s Whitechurch cemetery.
Another Slingsby family
John Hanrahan (born about 1824 and died Scartnaglorane 1904) and Mary Slingsby (born about 1833) had at least 8 children, some of whom were born in Scartnaglorane.
Some suggestions:
Check Cahir, Co. Tipperary as well as Ballylooby
If you have access to rootsireland.ie, check for BMD in Co. Waterford. Some of the Co. Tipperary records are there.
Two features I like on rootsireland.ie - baptism sponsor search fields and marriage witness search fields. If you enter Slingsby and Maher in those fields, and you record the names of the people you find and all of the baptisms and marriages they were connected with and especially place names, you may be able to use this information to piece together family groups. Sponsors and witnesses were usually siblings, other close relations, or important people. You can also correlate this information with the Tithe Applotment records.
Best of luck!
