Hello all,
I am researching my great great grandfather, James Anglin (1818-1893,) from Ballylaffin and Carrigataha. He married Margaret Williams from Kiltankin Townland, Tipperary, in 1844 and they had 5 children who were born in Carrigataha, the townland adjacent to Ballylaffin, (Edmund-1845, Catherine-1846, Patrick-1848, John-1850 and Judith-1852) before they left Ireland around 1853-4 and emigrated to Sharpsburg Pennsylvania USA , just outside the city of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
I believe James' father was Edmond Anglin (1782-1852) and his mother was Catherine (1782-1843) who is buried in Tubbrid graveyard. Edmond had at least two brothers, Patrick and John, all of whom leased land from William Bagwell in Ballylaffin for farming. Their names, under various spellings (Anglum, Anglim, Anglin,) appear in the Tithe Applotment Books from 1823-1837. John and Patrick later appear in the 1852 Griffiths Valuations. I am specifically looking for information on Edmond and his brothers John and Patrick, and Edmond's son James, but any information on Anglin/Anglum/Anglims from Ballylaffin and/or Carrigataha townlands during the period 1780-1854 would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Rob Anglin
