I would appreciate any help or guidance on finding more about William Pollock, and his family (parents, siblings, wife, children). He was born in Kileevan, Monaghan on 3rd Oct 1827. His parents were:
- George Pollock (born 1 Sep 1798 in Ireland) and Elizabeth Mahon (born 3 Mar 1799 in Kileevan, Monaghan). George and Elizabeth supposedly left Ireland in 1843 to go to Scotland. If ti's possible, I'd love to find their parents as well. Attached is their family record.
On 28 Apr 1854 (do not know where), William married Margaret McCormick (born 13 Jan 1837 in Scotland). Both William and Margaret died in the US. They immigrated from Scotland on the ship Columbia, arriving in New York City on 9 Jun 1871. Their first eight children were born in Scotland (Isabella, Elizabeth, George, Margaret, Sarah, Anna, Jennet, and William.)
There are so many George and William Pollocks - I don't know how to sort them out to be certain I have the correct ones when I look at the records. But I hope to find any available documents/records or copies to verify any information I can about them before they came to the United States.
I love visiting the graves of all these Pollock ancestors and am blessed that they are buried not far from where I live. I also loved visiting Ireland last year and am so grateful that trip was taken before this year's Covid restrictions.
Thank you for any assistance!

Deb,
William Pollock’s daughter Isabella was born at 01.30 on 27th March 1855 in Newmains, Lanarkshire. (GROS ref 628/90). The certificate confirms William was born in Killeven, Co. Monaghan. He was 25. Margaret McCormick was born in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire and was 20. The couple married in 1854 in Wishaw, Lanarkshire. William was a coal miner and this was their first child.
You haven’t said what denomination the family was. Killevan Church of Ireland (Episcopalian) records start in 1811; Presbyterian (church at Newbliss) records in 1856 and RC in 1871. The majority of Pollocks in Co Monaghan appear to have been Presbyterian (so likely originally of Scottish origins). Unless the family was Church of Ireland it doesn’t look as though there will be any records of their baptisms. And then only from 1811. The Church of Ireland records are in the RCB library in Dublin with a copy in PRONI in Belfast. Some years are on rootsireland (subscription site).
There was a George Pollock in the tithe applotment records for Cornawall townland in 1825:
There were 3 Pollock farms in the townland. George is still listed there in Griffiths Valuation for 1860 so it can’t be your George but it might be a relation.

One household still there in 1901:

And in 1911:

Otherwise there are probably no other early records in Ireland likely to record the family.
