Hi,
I am curious why I cannot locate either a birth record for Jeremiah Clifford (do not know his parent's names) nor a marriage record for him and Johanna Reidy, abt. 1858. Their first son, Cornelius was born in 1859, and they had 8 additional children. I have the birth records of the children. Neither the RootsIreland site, which says the records should be there for that date, nor the Church Records site from Irishgenealogy.ie show their marriage record. Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated,
Carolyn
P.S. I do have two potential sets of parents for Jeremiah with births in 1837 which makes sense, but I have no idea of which one is correct, and I do not want to guess. One is in Killeentierna and the other in Killarney. Any opinion on this matter would be great too!

One additional fact that adds more confusion to my records....their first son, Cornelius was born in 1859, and son number two, Jeremiah in 1866. The remaining 6 children were all born 1 or 2 years apart.
I don't know if that is relevant information...but the birth records show that information.

Can you tell me what parish you located the baptismal records. The only record I located was for Elizabeth Clifford May 18 1870. The parish was Ballymacelligot. Ballymacelligot parish has records starting 1868 which explains not finding any other records. Let me know.

Hi Roger,
I haven't found any record for the eldest son, Cornelius born 1859; but he definitely is a sibling. He came to the US with a number of his siblings. Jermiah's (1866) record says Tralee, Mary's (1868) says Tralee East, Johanna's (1872) says Tralee (No 1), and the remaining siblings Elizabeth (1870), Margaret (1874), Thomas (1877), and Bridget (1878) all show Ballymacelligot as the baptismal place. These are from the Select Births and Baptism records. There is also an Eleanor (Nellie), 1867 that I cannot locate a record for.
Thanks,
Carolyn

Carolyn:
I looked at the 1866 civil birth record for Jeremiah. The family was living in Shanaknock townland in O'Brennan civil parish. The RC parish would be Ballymacelligot. So there would be no baptismal records or marriage records before 1868.

Thank you Roger! That answers my questions, and I''ll give up my quest of searching for their marriage record and the birth record for their eldest son!

Hi Tony,
Thanks for reaching out, but her surname is Reidy as eight of their nine children have records with Clifford- Reidy as their parents.
