My ancestors were John Morris born about 1780 and brother James who were involved in the 1799 uprising around Enniscorthy. James died and John left for Canada in early 1800. They were from Davidstown.. Any information welcome .

Hi Sheila Mary,
Subscription site www.findmypast.ie has a record of a Quaker family in Wexford - John in Park Annesley and James in Erackna.
They both made a claim under Surrenders and Claimants Act for loss to livestock and clothing as a result of the 1798 Rebellion.
James is recorded as Morison at a Quaker meeting.
They may be connections to you family?
Regards,
McCoy

Thanks but I do not think they were Quakers .They were fighting for the cause and James was lost in the battle. John survived but left for Canada some time after.
Any other ideas I will be happy to hear. They were Catholics as in Canada John raised his children in that faith although he married a Protestant , Marie Adams from Antrim who had come with family to Canada.
I appreciate your help.
Sheila
