I am seeking further information on my paternal ancestors - the Considines, Nestors and Fitzpatricks from Co. Clare. Thomas Considine and wife Mary, with their seven children, arrived in Sydney, Australia in 1851 aboard the ship Earl Grey. I believe they originated in Ennistymon, Co. Clare. Mary's parents were Cornelius Nestor and Mary Fitzpatrick. Thomas' parents were Michael and Mary. Thank you for your help.

    I attact record from the Earl Grey - 1851 of Thomas and his wife - Mary. only 5 children are shown.

    State records here are from January 1st 1864. Church records vary. 

    I will try to find the actual parish they came from to see if the children are recorded there.

    Considine is a very common name in North Clare. The name Nestor is less common. 

    I have checked the land records for c1853 for a Cornelius Nestor, but did not find any. There is a Margaret Nestor in Kilshanny parish which is close to Ennistimon  (Ennistymon) and also a Michael Considine in Kilfenora which is an adjoining parish.

  • Thank yoy Mc Coy for the trouble you've gone to. And apologies for not replying sooner.

    The PDFs are very helpful, especially the information on Margaret Nestor and Michael Considine.These leads are indeed useful.

    I have just discovered that the missing children's names from the Early Grey passenger list are Bridget and Thomas (overleaf in the record). Bridget was born in Ennistymon around 1850; Thomas was born on board the Earl Grey - almost Australian!  (courtesy Ancestry.com). Your copy may not be complete, but it is far clearer than I often get from my library's printer.
