Looking for information about my husband's grandfather, James O'Donnell. According to his marriage registration and Census details, James was born in Tipperary. However, it is unknown where he was born. The marriage registration shows that he was a Servant and his residence was shown as Grenane, Tipperary. The marriage took place in St. Mary COI in Tipperary. His father was also called James and his occupation was Gamekeeper. Though he was RC, his wife was not and therefore they married in COI. All of their children were baptized RC between 1874 and 1899.
Our James later spent many years working as a Gamekeeper at Adare Manor in Adare, Limerick. Sometime after 1911 Census, he moved to Tipperary Town but I'm not sure when. He was living with his daughter and her family at Bank Place, Tipp Town when he died 13 Jul 1929. Best guess is that he might have been born somewhere about 1853 using his age on the 1901 Census. ( 1911 Census and Death Registration show he might have been born in 1861. However that would have made his only about 12 years old when he married in 1873. )
I'd appreciate any help in: 1. Locating/learning where and when he was born; 2. Where he might be buried (No record at St. Michael's or St. Mary's in Tipperary Town.)
Thanks for your help.

Peg:
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the only lead I could find was a baptism on November 30 1854 for a James O'Donnell with father James O'Donnell and mother Anne Carthy. The RC parish was Murroe and Boher which is a border parish between Limerick and Tipperary. There was no info on a townland. Here is a link to the parish register entry.

Hi Roger,
Thank you for this information. I did check the parish registers and also found a marriage registration for James O'Donnell and Honora McCarthy. Do you think there is any possibility that they could be the James O'Donnell and Anne Carthy shown as the parents in the baptism registry? I'm going to continue to search those registers to see if any other children might have been baptized in that parish . Researching Irish records is like looking in the proverbial needle in a haystack!
Thanks for your help.
