Hello!
I am currently researching the McManus surname. Mary McManus married Christopher Dunleavy (Ultagh)around 1842 in Granard, Co. Longford. I am trying to locate the names of her parents. Based on the family naming patterns, I am thinking her father may have been James and her mother Mary. However I haven't been able to locate records in the area. I have found a Mary McMannis in a Family Tree on Ancestry, born 1821 in Westmeath with parents James and Mary. I am not sure this is the correct family. We have other records on the McManus (John) family living in Killasona and then moving to Lislea. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Roots Ireland shows the couple married in Westmeath, not Granard, Co. Longford:
Married 21-Aug-1842
Parish, RC: Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath
Husband Wife
Name: Christopher Dunleavy Mary McManus
Witnesses: Thomas Sullivan Judith Reilly

There are many Granard church records here:

The Granard RC parish records have a 5 1/2 year gap in baptismal records (April 1811-October 1816) so if your Mary was born a little earlier and baptized in Granard, the record would not be available.
I also did a search of the subscription site Roots Ireland. There was a Mary McManus baptized June 25 1822 in Granard with father Michael and mother Brigid Lynch. Also another Mary McManus baptized September 16 1821 in the RC church in Longford town father Michael and mother Mary Neil.
Have you considered a DNA test. You may get matches with 3rd or 4th cousins.

Thank you for the replies and the information. I am thinking the McManus family I am searching may be the one from Castlepollard, Westmeath. I know Mary had a sister Ellen and found her birth record in the parish record books for Westmeath with parents James and Mary. Looking at the county map, Westmeath doesn't appear very far from Granard, so I am guessing it could be a possibility Christopher from Longford may very well have married Mary from Westmeath.
I appreciate your help.
