Hello,
I have attached a file briefly explaining my question. A few years ago I placed info about my maternal ancestor JOHN DOWNES (1836?-1911) who emigrated to the U.S. about 1861.
He was one of two known children of Cornelius DOWNES and Margaret O'BRIEN. They married in Ballingarry in 1829.
My recent research suggests that a possibly related John Downes (b. 1889) owned a plot from 1910. I was able to trace his ownership to the cancelled book of 1930.
I am hoping these facts may lead to more information about my emigrant great-grandfather John Downes.

Not sure if these records will help but you can decide. First record is the 1911 census record for John Downes in Ballyguileataggle

See third record for 1911 marriage of John Downes and Catherine Regan. Not father of John was Patrick.
Likely 1901 census record for Patrick Downes and his family including an 11 year old John.

1873 marriage record for Patrick Downes and Margaret Barry. Good possibility that this is the marriage record for John's parents. Note father of Patrick was Daniel
