William was born to his mother's surname Kirkwood in Leck Ballymoney County Antrim, he is William Trainor in the 1901 census. He is William Trenor in the 1911 Census labouring at a nearby farm in Billy Parish. He emigrated to Canada in 1923 and was believed to be in Vancouver. According to family lore he came home for a long vacation in 1929!. He went back to Canada in 1930 via Halifax, Nova Scotia. Rumours of his death around 1936 was that he was shot in a bank robbery as an innocent bystander, and/or, that he was a police man in New York and shot in the line of duty. Estimated to lose contact with the family around 1936. As my father, his nephew, often cited the mystery of the elusive Uncle William, I uncovered the story by years of research and assistance for internet friends across the pond. The search was further confused as William was known as Bill by his mothers family and as Willie in Ballycastle and by his father's family. The photograph was loaned to me a first cousin of William from the Kirkwood side of the family, inscribed Ballymena 1929 on the rear. My father was saddened when I uncovered the death certificate. I have found no online reporting the death in Toronto newspapers. It is on my bucket list to visit Scarborough and see if I can validate the information on the death certificate.
