James O'Connell, born about 1847 in Limerick, Ireland and died 12 Dec 1890 in Greymouth, New Zealand. Possibly arrived Melbourne, Australia on the Gothenburg or the Alhambra on 19th June 1866. From there, he travelled to New Zealand, either on the Halcione 1869 tons to Napier, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, 10 Jul 1874, or on the Metropolis 1082 ton to Lyttelton, New Zealand 16 Jun 1863, or by the Bombay, towed into port after gale, 20 Mar 1865. He resided in Darkies' Terrace, Charleston, Buller, West Coast, New Zealand from 1875 to 1876. He married Susan McDonald (McDonnald) on 18 Nov 1877 in the Catholic Church in Greyouth, New Zealand. They had 4 children that I know of - David, a stillborn son, Mary and Albert Edward.
I am looking for more information on both David and Susan, who was born about 1851 in Dublin. I do not know how she got to New Zealand, and died in Hokitika, New Zealand in December 1905.
