His father was also called Robert Mitchell (possibly born in Irvine Ayrshire, Scotland) and was a Corporal in the 97th Regiment of Foot 6th Service Company at the time.
His mother was called Mary, unknown maiden surname, but I believe that she may have been Irish. I was wondering if she may have been a local Templebreedy girl who married a soldier stationed in her village?
