Thomas Joseph Hynes (pictured) born 2nd December 1856, Elaine, Victoria, Australia. First born of Joseph Hynes c1834 and Mary Halloran c1834.  I have located records on a marriage for Joseph Hynes and Mary Halloran in the Irish Catholic Parish Register 1655 - 1915 Marriage Place: New Quay, Clare, Ireland Parish Variants Glanamanagh, Glenamanagh Diocese Galway. Married 20th August 1855 wittnesses John Nilan and Bessy Clohessy.

Joseph and Mary migrated to Australia and as per the shipping records (Unassisted/Assisted) the ship departed Liverpool on 16.10.1855 for Point Henry, Victoria, I can only assume it picked up Irish passengers in Galway and arrived in Australia on 16.01.1856. It was noted that they were from Fermanagh (which is puzzling though I'm inclined to think it should be Finavarra) as according to Mary's death certificate she was from New Quay (Burren) and I am led to believe Joseph was from also from Clare. Joseph's parents were Joseph Hynes and Mary O'Connell (unsure of spelling or accuracy). Mary's parents were John Halloran (O'Halloran) and Bridget Daly.

Joseph and Mary first settled in Geelong, Vic and then moved to the goldfields around Elaine south west of Ballarat where he worked for the Victoria Railways.  They went on and had 5 children in total, Thomas Joseph b 1856, Mary Anne b 1859, Margaret b 1863, Michael b1864 and John Thomas b 1870.

In June 1906 Joseph got lost on his property whist checking the fences and passed away from exhaustion and heart failure.
