He married Janet Hamilton in Glasgow and their first child Elizabeth Middleton was b Killinchy 1825 before Robert and janet moved to Leswalt Wigtonshire and Thomas b1827 Mary b 1829 Jean 1830 James abt 1831 all in Stranraer area where Robert was a farm labourer in wierston area.
Janet dies 1838 and buried Stranraer.
1851 census has elizabeth aged 26, Thomas aged 25 and James all living tog.
Robert has died 1849 in Stranraer.

Both Mary and James die in Stranraer. Mary marries Alexander Anderson and their daughter William Ian dies 1 yr old 1862
