Dominic Breheny came fro Currinah. He married Mary Elizabeth Kearns of Ohio on 02 Mar 1876 in Des Moines, Polk, Iowa, USA. They had 6 children and raised 5 to adulthood.
The family appears near the family of Patrick Joseph and Mary Ellen Breheny in Madison Township, Madison County, Iowa in the 1880 Census; both men are quarry hands. In 1900 Dom & Mary have in their home a nephew, Dominic, newly arrived from Ireland (coming to his sister, Mary in Des Moines per ship manifest). We have learned that this 2nd Dominic was the son of Thomas and Mary Morrisroe. Thomas, Patrick, and Dominic had a sister Mary (m. Anthony Towey) whose daughter Ellen was in the home of Patrick in the 1880 US Census. Younger Mary Breheny, sister of 'Nephew' Dominic was found in the 1900 US Census in Des Moines, Polk, Iowa, USA.
These details helped us to identify the origins of Patrick and brother, Dominic. 1920 City Directory listings identify Mary E (Kearns) Breheny as a widow. Mary Kearns Breheny, wife of the elder Dominic, lived in Des Moines until her death 16 Mar 1936. She is buried in Atlantic, Cass County, Iowa, USA.
