Michael Picket was my great great grandfather. Some say he came from Cork, though I have been unable to find exact records. He was born between 1817-1823 and came to Canada July 24, 1846. I believe he sailed on the same ship as a woman named Margaret O'Brien. I'm not sure if Margaret and Michael knew each other when they lived in Ireland or not. Michael Picket and Margaret O'Brien were Roman Catholic. They landed in Quebec and I believe lived there for approximately 1 year before coming to Ontario to settle and farm the land.
Michael & Margaret married 13 Jun 1848 • Toronto, York, Ontario
John O'Brien and Margaret Duggan, witnesses; St. Paul's R.C. Church, Toronto Vol. 2, 1846-1856. It's possible they were married by Rev. John O'Beirne who is on the Church registry of baptisms from May 1848 to July 1848. On the marriage certificate Michael's last name is spelled Pigot. It is the only place I find it spelled this way.
Michael & Margaret had 10 children together (as listed below)
