Rockville was a Blackburn property which came into Lloyd possession following the marriage of Owen Lloyd of Lissadorn and Susanna Blackburn in 1740.
It was home of to the Lloyds of Rockville in the 18th and 19th centuries. Valued at £45 in the 1850s.
On 23 March 1918, Rockville, Drumsna, was advertised for auction on 3 April [Irish Times]. The sale included the mansion house, demesne, farming lands (1000 acres of land + 73 acres of lake and water) and a boat-house. It had a basement, five reception and billiard rooms and “about 12 bedrooms”. It was stated that the house had been held by the family for over two centuries and had been occupied by the owner until recently. It was purchased by George Frayne of Ballaghderreen, a farmer (not de Freyne).
Rockville later was owned by Marcus O'Sullivan, who attempted to sell it in 1946. The Irish Times of 27 April 1946, published a photograph of the house, described as “a two-storey, slated, stone house” with a ballroom and five large bedrooms. In 1948, Marcus & Emily O’Sullivan, of Rockville House, Drumsna, Co Roscommon announced the birth of a child [Irish Times, 13 November 1948]. In 1878, the calling to the bar of Marcus M O’Sullivan of the same address, was published [Irish Times, 26 July 1978].
Rockville House was demolished sometime in the late 1950s.
