I'm looking for information on Patrick O'Beirne, who was born in Mohil, County Leitrim in 1832. His father may have been named Francis*. I don't know his mother's name. I believe Patrick emigrated to the U.S. in 1852. He married Margaret Reynolds in New York on October 9, 1853, when he was 21 years old. Patrick and Margaret had 4 sons: John, Edward Laughlin, Thomas F., and Patrick Joseph - all born in New York. Patrick served in the Union Regular Army in 1860 in Manhattan, New York. He died on November 17, 1861, when he was 29 years old. He died 4 months after the start of the Civil War, so it is surmised he was a casualty of that war. He is buried in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, St. Bernards, Range D, Lots 11-12 Tilden Ave, Brooklyn, NY.
Margaret was also born in Ireland in 1835. She may have arrived on the ship Empire on 11/30/1846, where she had traveled in steerage from Liverpool with her family – parents Patt (50) and Ann (49); siblings Maria 23, Rebecca 20, Francis 19, Mary 14, John 12, Sarah 10, and James 5. She was 7.She died on January 15, 1899, in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 60.
