Back to ListThe Venerable Arthur Mahon of Cavetown c.1716-1788) graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University in 1737 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).
He held the office of Archdeacon of Elphin in 1743. On 16 July 1748, he married Henrietta Downes dau. of the Rt. Rev. Robert Downes (d.1763) Bishop of Ferns and Leighlin.
The Revd. Arthur Mahon, Archdeacon of Elphin, is presented to the living of the Parish St. Nicholas Within, in the room of the Revd. Doctor John Wynne, who has resigned. [Pue's Occurrences - Saturday 30 September 1749]
In 1814 he is recorded at Cavetown in Leet's Directory
He was succeeded by his only son, Robert Mahon of Cavetown (d. 1808).
