In April 1839, a house, offices and Corn Mill, (valued at £9 10s) situated in a prime location opposite Killukin Church & cemetery was recorded in the townland of Danesfort in the name of Thomas Kirkwood Esq. of Lakeview.
By 1857, the Miller's House, offices, corn mill and land at [#GV3a] was being leased by Richard Thrilfall from a Johanna Moore. The value of the buildings alone had increased substantially to £20. Yet the corn mill was not marked on the OS Survey map.
In the 1901 Census, the Mill and a kiln were in operation by George Acheson (b. 1874) manager and his brother John Palmer Acheson (b. 1878) Miller (sons of George & Elizabeth Jane Acheson of Drumcree Co. Leitrim). Their residence, the Miller's House, was a 4 room building with 4 windows to the front.
Shortly afterward, the Corn Mill was marked "disused" in the 25" OS maps.
In 1911 Census, no mill nor Acheson is recorded here. However, the beautiful millhouse is still extant and certainly worth a look, if you happen to be passing by or visiting Killukin cemetery.
