According to his military records, Thomas Kennedy was from St Anne's Shandon, Cork. In February 1860 he married Margaret Laffan at St Mary's Shandon, & later that month joined the Royal Artillery. Soon they were off to India.
They had 2 daughters, Mary & Margaret at Belgaum, near Bombay. Then something went wrong. Margaret must have died.
By 1875 Thomas Kennedy had been discharged from the army at Woolwich, UK, with failing health & eyesight. He was sent to Tralee care of the Pension Office & died soon after.
Before leaving India Thomas Kennedy left his 2 daughters in the care of an orphanage near Bombay. One of them is my Great Grandmother.
