Born around 1867 my G Grandfather Thomas Menton from Wexford married Mary Kelly from Co Dublin born around 1870
They were married in St Brigids RC Church in Cabinteely, Rathdown, South County Dublin on 24 November 1891.
Thomas had 2 brothers and one sister I know of. James abt 1869 - 1954, Denis abt 1875 and Bridget abt 1871- 1922.
I have followed up tracing James and Bridget up to death but lost track of Denis after his wife died in 1931 in Offaly.
I traced a record for a Denis Menton who died at St Patricks House SCR Kilmainham run by Little Sisters of the Poor but at the time did not realise who he was and dismissed it and now I can't find it again. I think it was in 1930s - 1940s.
St Patricks House has long been left by the nuns and now is converted to apartments and the grounds had several houses built on and most residents have experienced ghostly children sounds and apparitions despite no records of children ever being at St Patricks House.
I need help finding where the records form there would be found so I can trace the death record for Denis Menton again.
Had this reply from Rootschat forum below:
Just trying to narrow down the date. Is this Denis and family in 1911: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/King_s_Co_/Screggan/Cloghanbane/559660/
If so he put the farm up for sale in 1945 (Offaly Independant)
In the same paper P.Menton died in 1948 formally of Screggan now Blanchardstown, regretted by his wife and father. There is a death in 1948 of a Patrick Menton aged 37. If this is the correct family, Denis was still alive in August 1948.
Think I have it
