Monaghan County Museum

Músaem Chontae Mhuineacháin aka Monaghan County Museum has an award-winning collection of over 50,000 objects, which tell the story of the county from the end of the last Ice Age to the present day. Accredited by the Heritage Council, Monaghan County Museum ranks among the most professionally run museums in Ireland.

Discover what it was like to live in Monaghan long ago; how people lived, travelled and communicated and uncover some seldom-told stories. Among the notable archaeological objects in the Museum, is Lisdrumturk Cauldron. The Museum also maintains a large collection of archival material, which include early estate records (rentals, maps and wages books) and local authority records.

• There is no on-site parking at the museum, however on-street parking is available near the museum at a rate of 50c per hour and long term parking is available in several locations in the town at a rate of €1 per day.
