The former Quaker school is located in the village of Ballitore in the civil parish of TImolin Co. Kildare.
In 1685, two Quakers named John Bancroft and Abel Strettel settled in Ballitore and established mills in the area. As more friends came to live and work in Ballitore, a Quaker village was eventually established.
The Abel Shackleton School was established in the village. The archway seen in the picture was built around 1725.
The school was recently de-listed in 2013 and set to be demolished to make way for a Glanbia development.
