In 1685, two Quakers named John Bancroft and Abel Strettel settled in Ballitore and established mills in the area. As more friends came to live and work in Ballitore, a Quaker village was eventually established.
The Quaker Burial ground was established in 1740 and is still in use today.
The Quaker village of Ballitore is located in the civil parish of Timolin in Co. Kildare.
