In 1999 the decision was made to reunify the neighbouring GAA clubs of Kilnadeema and Leitrim.
The clubs had previously been joined but separated in 1980.
There was some contention over the naming of the now unified club, as prior to the split in 1980 it had been known as Leitrim-Kilnadeema, but a vote saw the names being reversed.
The reunification proved fruitful for the club as they won the Minor B championship, a feat which neither club had been able to achieve on their own.
