Honora Fitzpatrick was from Murroughkilly in County Clare. Her father was Thomas Fitzpatrick. Thomas was listed as a herdsman on Honor's marriage record to Michael O'Connors in 1876. Thomas was also listed as deceased at the time of Honor's marriage. Her mother is probably Bridget Donohoe. Honora was born around 1854. She had a younger brother Michael Fitzpatrick who lived in Murroughkilly as well. There is a baptism record in Murrough for Michael Fitzpatrick in 1855 with parents Thomas Fitzpatrick and Bridget Donohoe.

Honor married Michael O'Connors in February 1876. They had 6 children - Bridget(Delia) in 1876, Mary in 1879, Honora in 1881, Patrick in 1885, Thomas in 1889 and Michael in 1897. Delia moved to Boston in 1896. In 1901 the rest of the family is shown on the 1901 Census living in Murroughkilly. Honora's brother Michael lives in the next house number with his family (Bridget Roach is his wife). In March 1902 Honora's husband Michael O'Connors dies. In 1903, the middle daughter Mary moves to Cambridge, Mass and lists a cousin Mary Burke as her contact in the USA. In 1910, the middle son Thomas moves to Cambridge, Mass and lists his sister Mary as his contact in the USA. In the 1911 census in Ireland, Patrick and Michael are listed as living with their uncle Michael Fitzpatrick in Murroughkilly. Their mother Honora (O'Connors) is not shown as living in Murroughkilly. Also missing is their youngest sister Honora. In 1911, the eldest son, Patrick moves to Somerville, Mass and lists his older sister Mary as his contact in the USA. In 1913, the youngest son, Michael moves to the USA and makes the journey with his cousin Bridget Fitzpatrick(age 22) and another cousin Bridget Howard(age 11).

I have been unable to find out what happened to Honora O'Connors (nee Fitzpatrick) or her youngest daughter Honora.

My Great-Grandmother Eliza Fitzpatrick's family may have come from Murrooghtoohy, S. Gleninagh Ballyvaghan. She was b. Nov. 11, 1829-30. Her parents were Patrick Fitzpatrick and Mary McNamara. She emigrated to St. Louis, MO before April 25,1853 when she m. John Collins there.

Following his death on Oct. 27, 1867, she moved to and settled in to Davenport, Iowa where John had purchased property and his Collins & O'Brien cousins lived. She raised her 4 cildren there& died there 1n 1907.

A Mary Fitzpatrick (nee) McNamara, wife of Patrick Fitzpatrick of Murraghtoohey, and two children, John b. 1821 and Anne emigrated to Haslingden, Lancashire, England before July 7, 1853 when he m. there. The question is could this Patrick Fitzpatrick and Mary (nee)McNamara be my Eliza's family? Would they (or she) have gone to England and Eliza to the USA? One other slim thread: there was a George McNamara listed on Griffiths 1823-37 from Murroughtoohy and Eliza named her second son George. Could he have been her Father? Hello Jo Banks, I was interested to read your comments re your GGrandmother Eliza Fitzpatrick, coming from Ballyvaughan. I have a GGGrandfather who is listed as coming to Australia in 1862 on board the Northumberland at the age of 21, from Ballyvaughan, Co Clare. His gravestone in Willunga, South Australia puts his birth date circa 1839-40. Other than good records of many of his descendants, I have little information about his family in Ireland. Any records you have encountered that indicate possible family ties to a John Fitzpatrick in Ballyvaughan region of Co Clare around that time would be of great interest.
