St Kevin's Church Glendalough

The monastic site at Glendalough County Wicklow was founded by St Kevin in the 6th century.

The site has endured a number of attacks throughout the centuries though the original features are all but lost.

Glendalough was an very important Monastic Site in Medieval Ireland. It was a popular pilgrimage destination and the miracles of St Kevin made it a very desirable place to be buried.

The buildings which still stand today largely date to the 11th and 12th centuries. The list of remaining buildings includes seven Churches, one Round Tower, two High Crosses, a Sanctuary Stone, and a Priest's House.

Today Glendalough is a popular tourist attraction as its location is both incredibly beautiful and easily accessed from Dublin.
