Corcomroe Cistercian Abbey is located in the Burren County Clare.
It was founded in the late 12th century by Domhnall Mór O'Briain.
The Abbey remained an important place up into the 17th century with the last Abbot, John O'Dea being elected in 1628.
What stands of the Abbey today is a complex Church with Nave and Chancel. There are a number of ornate architectural features such as carved human heads and flowers. There is also an effigy tomb of Conor O'Brien who died in 1268 and was the King of Thomond.
