Rachel Taylor : Short Biography

Rachel Taylor was born in Ballybay, County Monaghan, on 9 June 1864.   She is my great grandmother. 

Her mother, Eliza McMeechan, was born in Ballybay in aboout 1838, and her father, Robert Taylor, was also born in about 1838, and was a bootmaker in Ballybay.  It's likely that Eliza was a dressmaker, as all her daughters seemed to have trained to be dressmakers.

Rachel had four siblings: Annie (1866), William (1866), martha (1869) and Jane (dob unknown).

Rachel married James Taylor in Liverpool (West Derby) on 20 January 1890.  By this time, all the family appears to have left Ballybay to settle in Liverpool.
