Michael Tighe born Oct 1827 Shrule parish, County Mayo. He was the son of Michael Tigue and Bridget Purcell. Michael emmigrated to America about 1847. Michael married Margaret Noon in 1859. They eventually settled in Clinton, Rock County Wisconsin. Michael and Margaret had 8 children: Charlotte - 1860, George - 1861, Michael - 1863, Charlotte - 1865, James - 1868, Julia - 1872, Eugene - 1875, Benjamin - 1878. The photo of Michael Tighe was given to his brother Patrick when Patrick left Wisconsin about 1870 to move to Nebraska. The photo ended up with a nephew Robert McTygue - 1924 and eventually to a great grand niece Barbara McTygue.

Michael Tighe for nearly fifty years a resident of this community passed away at his home south-east of the village on Sunday evening Jan. 12 1913. He had been growing feeble for some time past but had not been confined to his bed but a few days. His death was due simple to old age and he suffered no pain. ....
Deceased was born in Irealnd in 1830 and came to America in 1847. He spent 8 years in Connecticut. in 1855 he came to Boone Co. IL and was married Feb 17, 1859 to Margaret Noon, who survives him. They moved to their present home in 1865, where they have since lived.
To Mr. and Mrs Tighe were born seven children, five of who are living. namely MM and James of Chicago. Benj B of Colraine MN, Eugene and Julia who live at home. George and Charlotte Tighe died in 1898, and 1911 respectively. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery at South Grove.” Michael is buried in the same cemetery with his mother Bridget Tygue.
Michael chaged the spelling of his last name from Tygue to Tighe about 1905.
