Andrew Finnucane Esq. of Ennistymon was the son of Mathias Finucane (1738-1814) and Ann daughter of Edward O'Brien of Ennistymon House.
In 1826 he was High Sherrif of Co. Clare. Andrew never married.
In 1837 Lewis wrote that Ennistymon Castle was originally a seat of the O'Brien family (descendants of the Earls of Thomond) but was then the residence of Andrew Finucane.
In 1845, Enistynon House was recorded as the seat of Andrew Finucan Esq in the Parliamentary Gazateer of Ireland even though he had died in London in 1843.
DEATH OF ANDREW FINUCANE. ESQ. With great regret have to announce the death, in London, of Andrew Finucane, Esq. The melancholy event took place on Tuesday last Mr Finucane was esteemed a magistrate and landlord. The following letter from Ermlstimon expresses the feelings of the people that vicinity for the death of their much loved and truly generous landlord –
This town its vicinity has been thrown into the deepest grief and gloom the unexpected death of Andrew Finucane Ennistimon House, Esq., J.P., D.L. The melancholy intelligence was received this night from London, where he expired. The shops are closed and all business suspended. Mr, Finucane was a just, upright, and fearless magistrate, a benevolent landlord, and most perfect and courteous gentleman, whose memory will ever be revered here and sincerely regretted those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. His remains will be brought the family vault this county. [Clare Journal – 15 May 1843]
In 1843, Ennistymon House passed to the descendants of his sister Susanna who had married William Nugent Macnamara of Doolin. Their other sister Jane married her cousin James Finucane of the Ballynacraggy family in 1800.
