Daniel Priest Sr. aka Dónal Mac a' tSagairt was a farmer in Knockroe (near Cavetown in Estersnow).

In 1829, he witnesses the marriage of his brother Patrick Priest of Knockvicar (further north in Kilbryan) to a Healy in Croghan.
Shortly after that Dan married Honor Regan (1814-1884) in Croghan and raised a family in the nearby townland of Knockroe.
Their close in-laws included: Mary McDonagh, Mary Feely, Ann Noon, James Simon, Mary Durcan, Mary Beirne, Brigid Queenan / Keenan, Lawrence & Brigid Cunneen /Cummins
His landlord was Lord Lorton of Rockingham House.

Dan appears on record in Knockroe's Tithe Applotment books of 1841. with about 12 acres (7 Irish aka Plantation acres).

By 1857 we can see he was living at #8a Knockroe (next door toe the McDonogh family) and had increased his holding to 40 acres (including land at #9a which was part bog).
Daniel Priest Sr. died in Knockroe in 1877, age 74. He was survived by his wife Honora Priest who died in 1884, age 70.

In 1867, their daughter Anne Priest of Knockroe married James Casey of Kilmanack (Kilnamanagh near Frenchpark).
