George Pierce Noonan emigrated from Teermaclane, Co Clare, in 1849, at the age of 12 to Canada and then to the United States. He appears to have been the only one in his family to leave at that time; two of his younger brothers left later and went to Rhode Island, but George went to California, first to Nevada Co, and then settling in Sonoma County.
Though almost nothing is known about his early years, once he was in Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co, California (by 1854), he was involved in most of the founding of Santa Rosa - the founding of a water company, a library, and a railroad; acted as Sheriff's Deputy, Ag Park Director, on the Board of Directors of the Rural Cemetery Association, and the Board of Supervisors, and the Board of Trustees of Santa Rosa, Election/Poll Inspector, Public Administrator multiple years, Undersheriff, Town Clerk, Tax Collector, and helped propose a gymnasium, all while raising 10 children, and working as a Bank Cashier.
He died in May of 1910, at the age of 73 years old.

My 2gr grandmother Anne Noonan b ca 1827 in Co Clare married Owen Berne (Burns in US) from Co Leitrim in Providence RI in 1852 and then they made their way to Sebastopol (Sonoma Co) Ca. Burnside Road is named after them. I’m wondering if they were family?

As for Anne Noonan, it is possible that she is related, or she could be related to another mysterious Santa Rosa Noonan, Patrick Noonan. I am convinced that George and Patrick must be related somehow, but have yet to prove it, sadly...
