Thomas arrived at Port Jackson, Colony of New South Wales, with his parents (John & Elizabeth) & sister Eliza on 25 November 1852 on the barque "John Gray"; unfortunately, another sibling (Catherine) died of measels en route.
Thomas' father found work in the Shoalhaven region of the Colony, so that's where the family settled. Thomas and Mary had 12 children: Mary Cecilia Grace (born 25 May 1882), Louis Thomas (born 12 Aug 1883), Alfred Joseph (born 6 Feb 1885), Elizabeth Alice (born 8 Oct 1887), Alphonsus Gregory (known as Fonce, born 8 July 1889), Mary Eileen Rachael (born 6 Sept 1890), Mary Josephine (known as Josie, born 24 Dec 1893), Rosabelle Mary (known as Rose, born 29 July 1894), Robert Francis (born 19 June 1896), John James (born 7 July 1898), Dorothea Mary (born 30 Aug 1900), Maria Pauline (also known as Pauline Marie; born 29 June 1902).
