Birth abt 1817 • Cornwall, England William Dobson is my 2nd great grandfather. Although born in Cornwall (Bodmin?) to Joseph & Mary Dobson, we find him in Belfast marrying Mary Jane EDGAR (father William EDGAR - Farmer) on 1st May 1838 • Belfast, Co Antrim. He's next to be found on the UK census in 1841 living in Market Lane, Glasgow. Listed as a "Musician" & "teacher of violin"...Later we find he is in the employ of the Clyde Steamers entertaining passengers. As his father Joseph is listed as a soldier, I'm wondering if he also oined the British Army & was posted in Ireland? (Or his father was?) Of Mary Jane EDGAR & her father, there is no trace that I can find. Died: 5 August 1879 • Blythswood, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
